As I sit here and type this, it's
Thursday, November 18th, 2008. I'm currently in the process
of creating a series of short, (30-second to no more than 5-minute)
informative videos designed for the business looking for a freelance
copywriter. Whether this is your first time looking for a copywriter,
or you've worked with copywriters before, I'm sure you'll learn
something new from these videos.
In this video series, I plan to explore

Theme
#1:
"Which of These 5 Copywriting Services Is Best For You?"
First off, I should say that there are
more than 5 types of copywriting services. The 5 types of
web-oriented copywriting services I'll show you are my best
attempt to represent all the various services, using a manageable
number of examples.
More specifically, here's what I intend
to cover in this theme:
- Not what you think about
salespages: Ultimately, your visitor will become a buyer at the
salespage, but there's another use of the salespage that most
businesses don't utilize as well as they should. This is one
area where your copywriter can really maximize your bottom line.
I'll give you a hint: this salespage occurs after a visitor
becomes a buyer, not before...
- Did you know that 52% of
all Internet traffic is video, or video-related? (eMarketer, December
2007.) Chances are, you probably arrived at this page because
of a video. See how powerful video marketing is?
Video marketing isn't part of the traditional definition of
copywriting services, but trust me, that's about to
change...real soon! (I'll briefly tell you what
you need to know about this trend, and how your copywriter can help you
make good on it.)
- Do you run pay-per-click
or banner ad campaigns? You may not have known that in
addition to writing these ads, your website copywriter can help you
discover which ones are really working
- Last month (October
2008), 2 of my collegues went to a marketing seminar primarily
dedicated to the subject of e-mail copywriting. The fact that
a big-name marketer put on a seminar devoted to e-mail marketing shows
the validity of using e-mail to communicate with your prospects.
I'll have one video dedicated to showing you exactly how your
pro copywriter can create e-mail campaigns that bring prospects back to
you site.

when looking for a direct-response web copywriter. What I'll
explore in these videos go a bit deeper than that. For

someone who's just a "copywriter." In other words, I'll
tell you why you should look for a professional freelancer
who's focus isn't only
on the copywriting services they'll offer you.
An important distinction that can make a world of difference.
- Exactly what it means
when a professional copywriter does their own advertising and marketing.
- Does this copywriter
have their own products aside from copywriting services...? If the
answer's yes, great!
- Long-term possibilities
you should consider.

"You Shouldn't Have To Do All The Asking--Questions Your
Prospective Copywriter Should
Ask You"
Amatuer copywriters have a "yes, sir" attitude that says "yes" too
soon, without even fully understanding you, your business, and your
situation.
On the other hand, professional freelance copywriters know what to ask
you. In consultation, they'll ask you insightful questions
that you may never have even thought about before. By knowing
and answering these questions, a lot of previously-hidden
insights will become self-evident. This is the job of a
professional freelancer and business strategist. You'll learn
so much about how you business can be marketed, and which
direction to go. And just as important, your prospective
freelancer will know if they're best suited to help you, and if so,
exactly how they can.
In these videos, I'll explore...
- Why it's important for
your prospective freelance copywriter to know abut you. (Not
only as a business owner, but as a person, the one with a vision moving
your business.)
- Here's an example:
"Where does your traffic come from?" But it doesn't end
there. A pro copywriter asks this question on deeper levels,
such as time traffic arrives, which sites deliver you the most traffic,
which countries your traffic comes from, and more.
- "If you knew nothing
could stop you, what would you do?"
